Transformer Pilates™

Transformer Pilates is KARVE's signature method: a fifty-minute, endurance-based class performed on the custom-built KARVE Transformer machine. It fuses classical low-impact Pilates with high-intensity training — slow, controlled, resistance-based sequences that build deep strength, improve posture and work the endurance fibres in your muscles, without the joint impact of running or jumping. Founded in London and now taught in Jeddah, Dubai, Kuwait, Athens and the UK. In Jeddah it is taught women-only, at KARVE in Ar Rawdah.

The machine, and why it isn't a standard reformer

A classical reformer uses springs to add or remove load in fixed steps. The KARVE Transformer is custom-built for the method: resistance is smooth and scaling rather than stepped, so it meets you where you are and grows as you do. That is what lets one class hold a first-timer and a third-year member at the same time — the movement is identical, the load is not.

In practice it means precise control, full-body activation, and a machine you are working against continuously rather than one you reset between exercises. It sits in the reformer family — if you are searching for reformer Pilates in Jeddah, this is what you will find at KARVE — but Transformer is the method and the machine, and the two were built for each other.

What fifty minutes looks like

  1. 01

    A body-readying warm-up

Not a token stretch. The warm-up prepares the specific muscles the class is about to load, and it is where your instructor sets your resistance and checks your position on the machine.

  2. 02

    A full-body, high-intensity sequence

Slow, intentional movement against continuous resistance, set to music, with the lights low. Nothing is fast, and that is precisely why it is hard — time under tension does the work that speed would do in a conventional class.

  3. 03

    Five minutes to come down

Stretching and a meditative cool-down. You leave physically challenged and mentally settled rather than wrecked — the difference between training and punishing yourself.

Why low impact still works

High intensity usually means impact: running, jumping, landing. Transformer Pilates gets the intensity from resistance and from keeping the muscle working under load for longer, so the load lands on muscle rather than joints. The method targets the endurance fibres in your muscles, which is why members describe the change as strength and posture rather than weight. It is also why it suits people who cannot or do not want to run, and why fifty minutes is enough.

Transformer Pilates in Jeddah

KARVE Jeddah is women-only, with an all-female team of London-certified instructors, inside the KARVE Club at Midtown Plaza, Prince Sultan Road, Ar Rawdah. Twelve Transformers fill the main studio, so a full class is twelve women. Dedicated KARVE BEGINNERS classes are smaller than the regular ones and run in a separate private studio, paced for a first time. Every move is scaled to the individual, with hands-on form correction in every class.

How to start

Book the intro — three full classes for SAR 600, first-timers only, valid fourteen days. Arrive ten minutes early and your instructor will walk you through the machine and set your resistance before anyone starts moving. Wear something fitted; loose clothing gets in the way. Grip socks are required and available at the studio, so there is nothing to buy in advance.
